What is metered billing ?
Metered billing charges customers based on their actual usage of a product or service during a billing period.
Metered billing (also called consumption-based billing) tracks actual usage and charges customers accordingly at the end of each billing period. It aligns cost with value and is popular in infrastructure, API, and SaaS products.
Example: A messaging API charges $0.005 per message sent. A customer who sends 500,000 messages in a month is billed $2,500, based purely on their usage.
